My First Pañuelo is a children’s story about an eight-year-old American girl who encounters an extraordinary experience while visiting her grandma in Peru. Grandma takes the girl downtown to see a dance performance called “Marinera Norteña.” The girl is fascinated and intrigued by the music, the dance, the costumes and the overall stage spectacle. However, she is most captivated by two mysterious white objects floating in the air. In the end, she discovers the significance of the “Pañuelo,” and what it means to people of all ages within the Peruvian community.
